Pre-prohibition cocktails and modern twists on classics

Hillside Cocktail

Hillside Cocktail

Ingredients:

1.5oz Gin

.75 Amaro Nonino

.75oz Dolin Dry

2-3 dashes Chartreuse Elixir de Vegetal

Lemon twist

Instructions:

Add all liquids to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Serve up in a chilled coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Notes:

This cocktail from the Varnish in LA (see video below), is an excellent change of pace. The dry vermouth and orange from the Nonino, give this one hints of flavor seen in the Old Pal, but the Gin and Elixir give the drink a lighter more herbal quality that really makes The Hillside Cocktail a treat.

If you don’t have the Elixer de Vegetal (it’s not sold in the US) try rimming the glass with Green Chartreuse.
