RC St.G
Ingredients:
1.5oz Rye
.75oz Campari
.75oz St. Germain
Orange twist
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Serve up in a chilled coupe. Garnish with an orange peel.
Notes:
This is a variation of the Boulevardier/Old Pal using more modern ratios. The substitution of St. Germain for vermouth sweetens the taste leading to a refreshing approachable drink, that will appeal to those less into the drier taste of the Old Pal but wanting something a bit lighter than the Boulevardier.
The RC St.G can also stand on its own as a new classic. The spice of the rye and bitter orange Campari offsets the sweetness of the St. Germain, while the orange twist adds more light citrus notes, yielding a perfect balance of flavors.

Made this with Aperol tonight. Quite nice – my wife said it smelled like alcoholic bubblegum. Why substitute Aperol? I’m out of Campari…
Nice! Glad it turned out well. Often a substitution from lack of ingredients makes for a great variation.
