Pre-prohibition cocktails and modern twists on classics

Corpse Reviver, no.2

    Ingredients:

    .75oz Gin

    .75oz Cointreau

    .75oz Lillet Blanc

    .75oz Lemon Juice

    Dash of Absinthe

    Instructions:

Add the gin, cointreau, Lillet, lemon juice and absinthe to a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

    Notes:

Refreshing and light yet complex, this is the most famous Corpse Reviver for good reason. Lemon and gin set the botanical citrus base on which the accents of orange, apricot and anise a layered smooth flavor. This one is tough not to like, even if you are not a fan of absinthe.

    History:

The more famous Corpse Reviver, this is another “hair of the dog” hangover cure from Harry Craddock’s The Savoy Cocktail Book. While the first is worth a try, no.2 is definitely one to know if you enjoy classic cocktails.
