Violet Sunset

Violet Sunset 2

Ingredients:

1 oz Gin

.75oz Domaine de Canton

.25oz Aperol

1 brspn Creme de Violette

1 dash Lavender Bitters

1 dash Orange Flower Water

Cherry

Instructions:
Add the gin, Domaine de Canton, Aperol, Creme de Violette, bitters and orange flower water to a chilled mixing glass. Add ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.
Notes:
Violet and lavender dominate the botanical scented nose. The combination of violet liquor and lavender bitters make Violet Sunset very floral in flavor, sweet at times and dry at others, the palette is a bit of a conundrum, with hints of rhubarb, ginger and orange citrus. The finish is all floral with a rush of sweet sugar at the end. A rare The Straight Up creation that is definitely on the sweeter side. In fact, the gin is almost unnoticeable, even though in the greatest proportion.

Violet Sunset

History:

Playing around with Gin, Aperol and Domaine de Canton, Violet Sunset went more toward the floral side with Violette, Lavender and Orange Flower Water. The Creme de Violette mixed with Aperol gives this one a cool orange color with a violet iridescence that is difficult to appreciate without seeing it in person.
