The Great Outdoors
Ingredients:
1oz Terroir Gin
1.oz Dolin Blanc
.75oz Salers
.5oz Cointreau
Orange Twist
Instructions:
Add the Terroir gin, Dolin Blanc, Salers and Cointreau to a chilled mixing glass. Add ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the orange twist.
Notes:
Light, grassy and botanical with a citrus dominant nose. This one comes on like a burst of cool water on a hot day. You’re at first surprised by how light, sweet and refreshing it is up front, with a very “outdoorsy” taste, featuring hints of fir trees, grass and fields of flowers. As the palette progresses the orange begins to rise to the forefront. As the front end fades to the background it is replaced by a gradual drying, pine laced bitter finish.
History:
I’ve been playing with St. George Spirits excellent line of Gins. Their Terroir Gin has a tree laced flavor, with notes of Douglas fir, sage and bay laurel. This drink plays on the fresh outdoors, using grassy, gentian Salers for the bitter component. The Cointreau adds the orange and using Dolin Blanc keeps the drink clear. A really unique Negroni variation for when your in the mood for something that will remind you of your last adventure into the wilderness.

Terroir Gin is one of my absolute favs because its herbs are picked in Marin County (on Mt Tam) and that glorious county is my home.
Nice! I’m jealous. I love California.
